BATTS, WILLIAM LAWRENCE SR, 93, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Hosparus unit in downtown Louisville.
He was a Christian and a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Freda Sullivan Batts; brother Carroll E. Batts; sister Virginia Batts Hancock; and second wife Helen M. Kottke Batts.
He is survived by his brother Henry J. Batts (Kathryn); son William L. Batts Jr. (Jeanie); stepdaughters Linda Ellington (Hank) and Gloria Gentry (Bill); grandchildren Billy Batts (Brenda), David Batts, Jonathan Batts (Tiffny), Christy Lampley (Brad), Sarah Hicks (Drew), Kimberly Wilson (Clark), Emily Ellington; and five great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Highland Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with Rev. Bill Taylor officiating, assisted by Rev. Hank Ellington. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 12:30 - 8 p.m. Sunday.
