Obituary for William Edward Johannes

Willam Edward Johannes, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on July 2nd, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Bill was many things to many people: he was the son who made his parents proud, the kind of brother his sisters adored, a loving husband, a compassionate friend with a quick wit; and especially a loving Doggy Dad to Harpo.

Bill was born in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey on May 25, 1947 to his parents, John Johannes and Jean Seabloom Johannes. Bill is survived by his wife, Maurine Waterhouse; his sisters, Patty Dodd (Steve) and Kathy Hinkle (Tim); and his nephews, Bryan Hinkle (Alex) and Sean Hinkle.

Bill was a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, class of 1969, and flew the F-4 Phantom in Vietnam. Bill was a DC-8 Captain for UPS and retired in 2012. He enjoyed many things in life, including flying, family, and friends. After retirement, he became a regular at Champions Dog Park, walking Harpo, and entertaining the other dog lovers.

A memorial for Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, July 16th, 2022, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., with a service to follow at the funeral home.
