Obituary for William F KERN III

87, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Wayne Dehoney Rehabilitation and Health Center at Treyton Oak Towers.
He was born September 4, 1922 in Louisville to the late William F. Kern, Jr. and Bernadine Klunder Kern.
He was a proud U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Italy, North Africa, and the Philippines. Upon his return from the war, he married his beloved Jane Tilden, who preceded him in death. They were married for 63 years.
Mr. Kern worked as a purchasing agent for Commonwealth Life Insurance Co. for 23 years. He also worked as a property manager for Tube Turns and Kentucky Fried Chicken, retiring as a property manager for Watterson Properties.
He is survived by daughters, Debby Mullins (Bob), and Pam Ellison (Rusty); grandchildren, Robby Mullins, Jeff Mullins and Corey Mullins, Angie Billiter and Jodi Baker; great-grandchildren Jaynie Mullins, Lola Mullins, Shepard Mullins, Sophie Billiter, Ben Billiter and Payton Baker. Also surviving are brothers, Robert Kern Sr. and Richard (Buddy) Kern.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 1, at Walnut Street Baptist Church, 1101 South Third St. with final rest in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 48 p.m. on Wednesday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
