Obituary for William Marvin Schnyder

William (Bill) Marvin Schnyder, 89, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 20, 2020.

He was born February 24, 1931, and was the son of the late John Schnyder Sr. and Emma (Steremau) Schnyder. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John Schnyder, Jr., Lewis Schnyder, and Robert Schnyder all of Louisville, KY.

Bill was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950 to 1954, where he received the U.S. Korean War Service Medal, U.N. Korean War Service Medal, Republic of Korea President Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He worked as a machinist for the federal government in the Department of the Navy at the Naval Ordinance Station in Louisville, Kentucky (Crane Division), where he retired from in April 1988.

Bill had a kind and caring heart toward others, and was a loving partner, stepfather, grandfather, and uncle. He enjoyed fishing, riding his bike, working in the yard, and watching all sports, especially the Kentucky Derby. But what he loved and enjoyed most was his beagles (Skipper, Skippy 1, Skippy 2, Gus, and Mae).

He is survived by his partner of 42 years, Katherine (Young) Sivori of Charleston, WV; stepchildren, John (Becky) Sivori of Pinellas County, FL; Brian (Sheila) Sivori of Charleston, WV, Bertha (Richard) Maes of Largo, FL; grandchildren, Erika (David) Taylor of Quantico, VA, Holly Sivori of Charleston, WV, and Chelsea Sivori of Charleston, WV; great- grandson, D.J. Taylor of Quantico, VA; and one nephew, Ricky Schnyder, of Louisville, KY.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 24th, 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., and his funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
