Obituary for Charles Edward Croley

CROLEY, Charles Edward, of Louisville, age 79, went to be with the one who died for him, Jesus, Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 4:50 am with family at his side.

Charles worked for 40 years at Standard Oil and Chevron. He was a lifetime member of the Society of Lubrication Engineers, the Society of Automotive Engineers, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a charter member of the Trinity Chapel Assemble of God Church in Louisville. He loved playing golf, gardening, and reading, especially history and biographies.

Charles is survived by his sweetheart for 56 years, Jackie Croley. He is also survived by two sons, Dr. Daniel Croley, wife Beth, of Glencoe, IL and Dr. Steven Croley, wife Paige, of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Jack, Jeff, Caroline, Alston, Graham, and Eliza Kate. In addition to several nieces and nephews, other close family includes a sister Christine Whitehead of Louisville, and a sister-in-law, Faye Terhune of Shelbyville, who he called “his little girl”; and many close friends.

His visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, on Tuesday March 3rd, 2015 from 3-7 pm with funeral services starting at 7 pm. Charles will be buried in a private ceremony in the Tuggle Family Cemetery in Williamsburg, KY.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to KY Teen Challenge/Priscilla’s Place, P.O. Box 14192, Louisville, KY 40214.
