Obituary for Margaret Thieneman

THIENEMAN, Margaret, 95, of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Mercy Sacred Heart Village.



Margaret Walter Thieneman was born January 30, 1920 in Louisville, Ky. to Joseph and Mary (Birkel) Walter. She was the third of nine children and is survived by sisters, Roberta Knoer, Mary Jo Krupp, Sr. Miriam Ann Walter S.C.N. and her brother Fr. Anthony Walter O.F.M. She was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Richard and sisters, Sr. Catherine Walter F.M.M. and Patricia Pohl.



Margaret married Joseph H. Thieneman on April 27, 1946. They had nine children, Peggy Thieneman, Michael Thieneman (Cathy), Kathleen Everhart, Stephen Thieneman, Martin Thieneman(Rachel), Charles Thieneman, Mary Carmel Wetherby, Kevin Thieneman (Kim)and Lisa Ann Thieneman. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph (1999) and daughter, Kathleen (2013). She is survived by eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.



Her life was devoted to caring for others from her younger brothers and sisters to her own children and grandchildren. Margaret was a staunch advocate of children with special needs. To that end she worked for many years with The Council for Retarded Citizens, Monsignor Pitt Learning Center and Tully School. She was especially appreciative of St. Mary's Center in Middletown.



Margaret found joy in her family, comfort in the rosary, pleasure in reading and delight in chocolate! She spent each winter in anxious anticipation of spring.



For the last several years she resided at Sacred Heart Village. The family wishes to thank all who cared for her with patience and kindness.



Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Tuesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
