Obituary for Mary Agnes Passafiume

PASSAFIUME, Mary Agnes, 89, of Louisville, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Nazareth Home.
Born in Louisville to the late John and Clara Passafiume, she was a graduate of Presentation Academy, Spalding University, and the University of Notre Dame. A former member of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, she enjoyed a long and successful career in education. Mary Agnes taught at secondary schools in Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Virginia before joining the modern languages faculty at Spalding University to teach Spanish language and literature. She also served as assistant academic dean and later, as assistant to the university president.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Vaughn “Joe” Passafiume, his wife, Ann and Sebastian “Sonny” Passafiume, his wife, Charlotte; niece, Marilyn Mueller; nephew, John Passafiume; and nephew-in-law, Bernie Ray.
Mary Agnes is survived by nieces and nephews, Clara Furlong (Thomas), Jerry Passafiume, Phyllis White (Joseph), Kathleen Passafiume, Tina Ray, Nancy Knabel (Steve) and Nancy Passafiume; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed the wonderful friendships and loving care from her neighbors at Royal Ambassador Condominiums.
Her funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Monday, August 3, 2015 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Sunday at Highlands.
