Condolences

Condolence From: Robert Gioffre
Condolence: Jay was a wonderful person who I am honored to have worked for, over a period of many years and in several programs. Whenever I met anyone in the industry and told them I worked for Gordon-Darby they always told me when and where they last saw Jay, what they talked about, and went on to praise him. This is because every time anyone interacted with Jay, they left happier and with a more positive outlook. He made everyone feel better about themselves even though he was the smartest person in the room, regardless of which room he was in.
Jay led his business with impeccable integrity always asking, what is the right thing to do? He never committed us to anything that could not be done, and done well. Jay was the ultimate role model. I very frequently explained to my children what Jay had done and why, as lessons in business morality and ethics.

Condolence From: Your Husband-in-Law
Condolence: My friend, I can not express how greatful I am for the love and friendship you and Shirley have shown to Marci and I throughout these many years.
We will miss that great smile and laugh that all your friends remember when ever you enter a room. Your presence was truly felt tonight with the most beautiful sunset as we honored your life at Bowman air field. You are and will always be missed by all!

Condolence From: Debbie and Kenny Costin
Condolence: We first met Jay and Shirley this year the Sunday evening after the Derby. AJ, our son, was taking pictures for HRE Wheels, and we talked and visited with Jay and Shirley at Bowman Field for about 5 hours. I had never had the opportunity to come across anyone like Jay. He and Shirley made it seem like we had been friends for a long time. I joked with my son after we left, that Jay was my best new friend. Shirley, we know that your heart is broken and heavy, but please find comfort in your faith and know that we all feel like we have lost someone very special.

Condolence: Jay, I have known you since you were 16 years old. I will always remember how much fun we had at our Halloween Parties and how sad you were when they stopped making "Tab" cola.I know God had a Tab for you.

Condolence: I knew Jay for over 20 years. I worked for the NYS Dept. of Motor Vehicles and spent many informative and happy hours with Jay at conferences and meetings. He was always the person that could be trusted to provide the best and most reliable information.
I also had the pleasure of watching him fly at Oshkosh and talking to him about flying. I remember when he started and how much he enjoyed it.
God bless you Jay, you will be sorely missed!

Condolence: I went to Waggener my junior and senior year with Jay. I didn't know him well, but knew him well enough to know that he was a really good guy. He was one of the few who didn't treat you as an outsider by starting there so late in your high school career. This can make a big difference in how you feel about a person and a school, and says much about their character! My prayers for his family in their tragic loss!

Condolence: I went to Waggener HS with Jay and I always remember his smile and humor. Jay and I have seen each other at all the Waggener gatherings over the many years. He always greeted us with a huge hug and was interested in catching up with what we all were up to. Jay will be remembered as a caring and loving person who helped so many in his 61 years. Jay, you will be missed.

Condolence: Although I had only known Jay for 6 years, I always loved seeing he and Shirley. His love of life and wife came through every moment I was with him. His smile and laugh were contagious and I remember clearly sitting beside him at a group dinner having lots of laughs, when I last saw him. The laughter and the loved flowed from him that evening. I will miss seeing him at air shows with his pal Bill. My thoughts are with you Shirley.
