Frank Schmidt

Clint, John, Susan, I am really sorry to learn of Roy's death. He was a truly extraordinary man--highly intelligent, benevolent towards all, and with a great sense of humor. He and Mildred were great to me when I was a kid running around with Clint and sometimes John. My wife and I dropped in on him and Mildred in the summer of 2012 and had a great visit with him and Mildred. Roy was tickled to learn that my wife Cindy, like him, was an engineering graduate of Oklahoma State in Stillwater, OK. After Mildred died, I saw in an email he sent me that he was feeling down and lonely. So I sent him a letter to buck him up, saying I thought he still has some tread left on his tires, like my dad after my mother died. He wrote me back a nice letter thanking me and saying he agreed he still has some tread left on his tires--but some bald spots too. He said he appreciated getting my letter. That was the 4th of January of this year. That was my last communication with him. I wish I could be at the funeral, but being over 500 miles away, I can't. But I will send flowers. Frank Schmidt
