Hon. Jerome J. Metz, Jr.
I was a partner at Porter Wright in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I worked together with Chip in Bankruptcy litigation. He was my good friend, and my wife Debbie and I enjoyed our occasional dinners with both Chip and Linda. Chip was everything you read in these various remembrances: a learned, brilliant, and honorable lawyer. In knowledge, insight, and practical application of the bankruptcy code Chip could not be touched. He understood the code past and present and how it's many intricacies fitted together and worked. Together Chip and I handled a number of important bankruptcy cases, winning victories against tough opponents, and forging lasting friendships with regular bankruptcy practitioners. Chip understood the importance of earned trust.
He was never stingy. When he was writing his chapter on post-divorce bankruptcy, he asked me to help with the final draft. I added a few interstices and polished it some. He gave me full credit as a coauthor.
He was my good friend, and I will miss him.
