Charlie was my brother-in-law.  As the younger brother of his wife, Margie, I benefitted from his acquaintance and counsel for the years of their courtship and the early years of their marriage.  Charlie loved the Navy.   He interested me in all things Navy and I ultimately followed him, also becoming an officer in the Navy many years after he introduced me.  As a tag-along to the young couple, I got an educated tour of most of the southeastern states and Indiana and Ohio.  Charlie was an integral member of the Civil Air Patrol, participating in Air Defense drills, and the Air Force civilian support team during the cold war and he mentored me in these pursuits and the military arts in general.  He was a practicing patriot and had a lifelong influence on me.  He will be missed by many.
