DAVIES, ALUN R., 64, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2014, surrounded by close family.

He was originally from South Wales and born April 10, 1949 to Dilwyn (deceased) and Gwyneth Davies.

Alun's career as a Metallurgical Engineer gained him many, many friends and acquaintances and travel to every corner of the world. He left his mark in a lot of places.

Alun's passions included extensive world traveling. There are not many countries Alun had not visited and enjoyed. He had a love for thoroughbred horse racing, Louisville sports and continued to follow Welsh Rugby. Alun loved storytelling and catching up with old friends over a glass of Kentucky bourbon.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Wendy (Petherick) Davies; daughter, Bethan Flynn, son-in-law, Daniel Flynn, and the light of his life, grandbaby, Emma Rae Flynn. Also left to cherish his memory are his mother, his three siblings and their families, as well as so many friends whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, on Saturday after 10 a.m. until his service at 2 p.m.
