Ann Clancy McAllister | Visit Guest Book McALLISTER, ANN CLANCY, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010. She was 83.
A Louisville native, she was the widow of CM/Sgt. Harry C. McAllister, USAF (retired), also from Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Francis Clancy Sr. and Hattie Dixon Clancy, both from Paoli, IN; and five siblings, David Warren, Martha Ellen, Roy Francis Jr., Mary Alice Carpenter; and step-sister, Shirley Shaw Meyer.
Ann is survived by her sons, Roy Patrick (Candice) of Roswell, GA and Jeffery Lee (Debra) of Louisville; four grandchildren, Sean Merritt (Sally) of Alexandria, VA, Adam Curtsinger of Atlanta, GA, Sarah Ellen and Lillian Paige of Louisville; and one great- grandchild, Anna Elizabeth of Alexandria. She is also survived by her brother, John Wayne Clancy of Woodstock, GA; and stepsister, Joyce Shaw Redmon (Ray) of Louisville.
Ann graduated from Louisville Girls' High School in 1945. She and Harry, a graduate of Male, married March 30, 1946 not long after he returned from service in the Army Air Forces in the Pacific Theater of World War II. With the activation of the Kentucky Air National Guard in the early 1950's, Harry returned the active military duty and was transferred to England.
Living in England was the first of several overseas experiences for Ann. She and Harry also lived in the Dominican Republic, Japan and Germany along with assignments to several Air Force bases in the US. In 1974, Ann and Harry returned home to Louisville from Germany with his retirement.
The family thanks the nurses and staff at Oaklawn Nursing Home for their compassion and kindness in caring for Ann during her final days.
A celebration of Ann's life will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park on Saturday at 9 a.m. Visitation will be from 2-4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
