Obituary for Annette Garvey

GARVEY, Annette Phipps, 93, passed away April 17, 2011, with her daughters at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William J. Garvey.
Ann attended the Detroit Academy of Art and The Meinzinger Art School and used her talents as a display artist at various department stores in Detroit and Louisville. If you could hardly wait to see the magical Christmas windows at Stewart’s each year, you had a glimpse of her creative genius.
She was former president of Altrusa and an active member of the Advertising Club of Louisville. During WWII, she was involved with Detroit’s Anzac Club, which was dedicated to the hospitality of soldiers and sailors of His Majesty’s Armed Forces.
Ann is survived by her daughters Karen Hitchcock (Ron) and Pam Garvey-McClelland of New York, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. To all she will be dearly missed. A special thanks to her Hosparus team and Good Samaritan for their loving care.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to Humane Society.
A family service was held Tuesday afternoon.
