THOMAS, ANNIE KAREM GEORGE, 82, formerly of Okolona, passed away peacefully Monday, January 30, 2012 with family at her side.
She was born January 14, 1930 to Karem Shaheen George and Fannie George. She was a homemaker and very proud of that title. She was an avid bowler and belonged to several leagues over the course of her life. She was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She possessed a great personality and will be missed by all who knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Hugh "Red" Thomas Jr.; her brothers, Eli, Phillip, Shaheen, Fouzee, George and Morris; and her beloved grandmother, Annie Bolus "Citi" George.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lopez-Thorpe (Art); sons, C. Douglas Thomas, Darrell Thomas (Sharon) and Duane Thomas (Kathleen); grandchildren, Anne Renee Lopez, Nathan Thomas (Jayan), Brandon Thomas (Sabrina), Payton Thomas, Shane Thomas (Allison) and Johanna Thomas; great-grandchildren, Natalie Thomas, Jason Thomas, Isabella Thomas and Allayna Thomas; and her sister, Mary George Davis.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at the Forum at Brookside for the love and care they provided their mother.
Visitation will be at Highlands Funeral Home 2-8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Stephen Martyr with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
