Obituary for Billy Ray Roby

ROBY,
Billy Ray, 80, of Louisville, died Sunday, September 4, 2011.
He was a former employee of Peyton’s Inc. and the owner of two Convenient Food Marts. He was a member of the Louisville East Lion’s Club and was active in the Kentucky School for the Blind Special Olympics, which were later renamed the Bill Roby Track and Field Games in his honor. Both he and his wife were founding members of St. Martha Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Roby; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Snyder; and brothers, William, Thomas, and Richard Roby.
He is survived by his three children, Rebecca Ann Roby, William Dean Roby (Vickie), and Jeffrey Wayne Roby (Susan); seven granddaughters, two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with inurnment to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Highlands.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Kentucky School for the Blind Charitable Foundation (KSBCF), 214 Haldeman Ave., or Hosparus of Louisville.
