Obituary for Carol Walker

WALKER, CAROL B., 76, of Louisville, passed away September 4, 2010 at University College Hospital of London, England.
Born in Owensboro, KY, she was the former Carol Ellen Burton, a retired teacher for the Jefferson County Public Schools, where she taught elementary music for 28 years and at one time received Kentucky Music Teacher of the Year. She was a 50-year member of Crescent Hill United Methodist Church, the past president and treasurer of the McDowell Music Clubs and Kentucky Federation of Music Clubs and a summa cum laude graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College, where she was a member of the Pep Band and a founding member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. Carol was also a regional director of Oxyfresh, member of Women in Networking, member of the Thoroughbred Chorus Ladies Auxiliary and a Kentucky Center volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Marvin Walker.
She is survived by her son, David W. Walker; daughter, Sara H. Harbison (Gregg); brothers, Thomas M. Burton and Dr. Harold Burton; and three grandchildren, Rachael, Adam and Abby.
Her visitation is noon-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with entombment to follow in Resthaven Cemetery.
