Obituary for Carroll Robert Lyverse

LYVERSE, CARROLL ROBERT, 83, passed away March 4, 2012 at his home after a 12 year battle with Lewy Body Disease.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. and Elizabeth Rudd Lyverse and his brother Samuel W. Lyverse.
Carroll was born August 5, 1928 in Louisville, grew up in Crescent Hill and attended Manual High School. He was a 1950 graduate of the U of L School of Business and retired from Reynolds Metals Company in 1989, after 37 years of service. As a 56 year member of Lyndon Baptist Church, he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and Brotherhood leader. Carroll cherished his family and many dear friends and was a lifelong U of L sports fan.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Sparks Lyverse; sons, Steven and Mark (Julie) Lyverse, and daughter, Melinda L. Schmitt (Karl); grandchildren, Scott (Sarah) and Jeremy Lyverse, Elaine Boer (Andrew,), Pearson and Tate Lyverse, Rick and Jesse Schmitt; great-grandchildren, Mason and Meredith Lyverse; sister-in-law Jean Young Lyverse and nieces Jenny, Sue, Mary and Laura.
The family thanks Dr. Jane Cornett, Angie Ethridge, Elizabeth Skees, and the entire staff at Hosparus for their remarkable care and support these last few months and sends very special thanks to Carroll's two loyal and loving caregivers, Vaughn Ashby and Douglas Peyton.

Visitation will be Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, followed by a prayer service. A private burial will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery.
