Obituary for Dorothy Anne Gray

GRAY, DOROTHY ANNE (WOELFL), passed away February 6, 2012 after years of gallantly enduring Lewy Body Dementia.
Predeceased by her husband Richard Alan Gray; and ex-husband, Jack Richard Villmow. Born Milwaukee, WI, only child of Caroline Woelfl (Swatis) and Max Woelfl. Graduate of University of Wisconsin, Madison, degrees in Zoology and Library Science. Head of the reference department of Ekstrom Library for the University of Louisville from 1976 until her retirement. Previously head of reference at Northwestern University, and reference librarian for Ohio State University. Always eager to help students and colleagues with their projects. Assisted her husband, Richard Gray in compiling several published bibliographies.
Volunteer for the Salt River Watershed Watch. Worked for anti-handgun legislation. Active member of Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church. Master Gardener. Avid birdwatcher. Loved to play piano and bake German stollen. Life-long environmentalist and book-lover. Generous and intelligent; a gentle soul. Overcame great personal suffering, and never allowed it to dim her gratitude for the beauty of God's creation and the kindness of friends.
Survived by her guardian angel and dearest friend, Mildred Franks, Louisville, KY; her aunt Marion Woelfl, Milwaukee, WI; her sister-in-law, Margaret Gray, Chicago, IL; her son, Keith Villmow and his wife Mary, children, Grace and Erin, Chicago, IL; her daughter, Linda Villmow, Louisville, KY; her stepdaughter, Karen Bernin (Gray), children Barbra and Amber, in Florida; her stepdaughter, Sonya Gray-Eskey in Oklahoma.
Memorial service in the small chapel at Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 . Refreshments following the service.
