BARBER, Dr. Philip W., Jr., DMD, 68, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip W. and Anna Barber.
Phil is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, the former Patricia Abell; sons, Philip A. Barber (Jennifer), Dr. Christopher W. Barber (Juva), and Joshua A. Barber (Sarah); siblings, Carol Leppert (Charles), Donna Chapman (Steven), Mary Lynn Barber (Rachel), Robert D. Barber, and Richard E. Barber; grandchildren, Rachel, Andrew, Sam, Marion, and Ryan; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the St. X Class of ‘65 going on to graduate from the University of Kentucky School of Dentistry. He then served as a Captain in the US Air Force before starting his private practice, which he had for over 42 years. Phil was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Philological Society, the American Dental Association, and served as a former member of the St. X Alumni Board of Directors. Phil was a past-president of the Louisville Dental Society, past-vice president of the Kentucky Dental Association, and former Secretary-Treasurer of the International College of Dentistry.
Dad passed on to all of his family his love of UK sports, summers at Nolin Lake, and going to the movies.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Rd. with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
His family wishes to express their utmost gratitude for the loving care provided to him at Nazareth Home.
