Obituary for Elizabeth C. Meisburg

MEISBURG, ELIZABETH C., 87, of Louisville passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.
During World War II she worked in the Curtis-Wright Aircraft Co. as a "Rosie the Riveter" and also worked at City Hall. She was the recipient of the Louisville Mayor's "Good Neighbor Award" and numerous tennis trophies.
She was a former member of Beechmont Presbyterian Church and longtime active member of First Christian Church, a member of the Beechmont Neighborhood Association and caretaker of "The Gazebo" at Woodlawn Avenue, and an avid tennis player, who adored her animals.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert L. Meisburg Jr.; her mother, Ruth E. Wilson; her father, Able F. Cook Sr.; her brother, Jackie Cook, M.I.A. U.S. Navy WW II; and a granddaughter, Karen Allen.
She is survived by son, Robert L. Meisburg III; daughter, Kathy M. Donald; brother, Ricky Cook; brother-in-law, Jack Meisburg; grandchildren, Sarah Meisburg and Matthew Donald (Meagen); great-grandchildren, Krystal and T.J. Allen and Kaylee Dick and Maci Donald; and beloved cousins, Betty Morgan, Dreatha Sullivan and Johnnie E. Stormes (Chris).
Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 9, 2011, 10 a.m., at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m.
