Obituary for Eugene Roe "Geno" Cruikshank

CRUIKSHANK, EUGENE ROE "GENO," of Louisville, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle passed at age 93 on June 7, 2014.

Born in Illinois, August 3, 1920, he was preceded in death by parents Clara (Roeske) and Donald Cruikshank, brothers, Gordon and Gerald, sisters, Donna and Marjorie, and infant daughter, Gina Gale.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Clara, brother, Harry (Kay), daughters Leta (Tom) and Heather, grandson Ian, niece Anne (Danny), plus many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. On his return, Gene met the love of his life, Clara, and they married June 13, 1945.

A devoted husband and family man, he was also dedicated to his students at Ahrens Trade School where he taught commercial art from 1958-1982. He attended Douglas Boulevard Christian Church for 60 years. Gene's interests included painting, drawing, photography and reading. He was a Mason for 35 years.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 14, 2013 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, from 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of Eugene's life at 4 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Smile Train.
