Obituary for Frank "Lefty" Weiger

WEIGER, Frank James, Jr. “Lefty”, 81, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, former owner of Frank’s Flowers and retired from National Distillers after 21 years. Lefty owned and raced thoroughbred horses, and especially loved his late horse, Payne Street. He was also a member of the Louisville Racing Pigeon Club, and enjoyed playing poker with his buddies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr., and Merlin; and sister Beverly Glasscock.
Frank is survived by the two loves of his life, Sharon Willinger and Dawson Carother; brother, Rodney Weiger (Alice); sisters, Carolyn Howard (Harold), Delores Woods (Ernie), JoAnn Malone, and Sandy Thomas (Benny); many nieces and nephews who lovingly knew him as “Uncle Junie”.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 10 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Highlands.
