PETERS, Fred M. (SHUGS), 97, left this world peacefully on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15, 2014.
Born to the late William and Charlotte Peters, Shugs was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. He was past owner and president of Peters Painting. He had previously worked at Oertels 92 Brewing for 30+ years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 76 years, Connie Kundert Peters; 7 brothers; 7 sisters; 1 grandson; and 1 granddaughter.
Shugs is survived by 4 sons, Philip M. Peters (Bonnie), Louis J. Peters (Marsha), Gregory L. Peters (Lisa), and Kenneth M. Peters (Heidi); 4 daughters, Rita L. Burns, Norma A. Allgeier, Mary Lucretia Hall (Tony) and Tessa M. Wilbert (Mike); sister, Aline Daunhauer; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 19 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Wednesday at Highlands.
Churchill Downs will never be the same without our Shugs passing through those gates.
