MILLER, George James, Jr., 83, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2013.
George was born in Louisville to George and Mary Julia Miller on May 2, 1930. He was a graduate of Flaget High School, attended Bellarmine University and was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He worked for LG&E and retired in 1988 after 32 years of service from CSX Corporation as Regional Manager Freight Damage Prevention.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Hughes Miller; sisters, Joan Raap and Ann Marie Huffine; daughters, Debra Beckmann and Paula Miller; sons Steven Miller and Kevin Miller; grandchildren, Heather Mattingly (Mike), James Alan Beckmann (Rachel), Bridget Milburn (Alan), Billy Miller, Patrick Miller and Taylor Druen (Miller); great-grandchildren, Madison, Bradley and Aislynn Mattingly, MacKenzie Beckmann (Milburn) and Brayden Milburn and numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be on Monday, 10 am at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2 – 8 pm on Sunday at Highlands.
