Obituary for GeorgeAnne Sotsky

George Anne Sotsky, 74, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, November 1 at her home.
Born in Louisa, Kentucky to George Childers and Helen Hinkle Childers, she grew up and made her home in Louisville. She was a 1955 graduate of Southern High School, where she met her future husband and lifelong admirer.
A selfless person, George Anne devoted her life to her family and friends and was a caregiver to many. She was active as a parent volunteer and facilitator of her children’s activities, including being PTA president. She was the consummate hostess and is legendary among family and friends for her chocolate pie, biscuits, hot mustard, and Thanksgiving dinners. George Anne loved gardening, sunshine and the beach. She faced her illness and death with dignity and grace.
George Anne is survived by her husband of 53 years, George Robert Sotsky, her children, Kathy (Kenny) King and Jay Sotsky of Louisville, and Karen (Ted) Merhoff of Nashville,TN; grandchildren Jacob Sotsky of New Orleans,LA, Annie King and Becca King of Louisville, and George Merhoff and Lily Merhoff of Nashville; a sister Peggy McDowell of Glasgow, KY, brothers Frank Childers and Larry Childers of Louisville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Life Celebration will be held Monday at 11 am at Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church, 4936 Brownsboro Road, followed by burial at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 2-8 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Kentucky Chapter, or to the Baptist Hospital Foundation Oncology Fund.
