POOLE, GERALDINE G., 94, died on May 9, 2014. She was born on November 16, 1919 in Breathitt County, KY. She was the daughter of Alfred and Mary Ellen (Russell) Gambill. She was a graduate of the 1948 class of Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Louisville. She practiced nursing in several hospitals and nursing homes in the Lexington and Louisville areas.

Geraldine was married for 55 years to Russell D. Poole, who predeceased her in 2004. She was a member of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church for many years, as well as a Kentucky Nursing Alumni Association member.

Six brothers predeceased her, Luther, Bert, Bill, George, Alfred and Edison Gambill.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn Poole Overmyer of Ann Arbor, MI, Elizabeth Poole Rudolph of Hurst, TX; brother, Hugh Gambill of Franklin, OH; and sister, Mary Ellen Gambill of Jackson, KY. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Overmyer of Austin, TX and Andrew Russell Overmyer of Seattle, WA.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville from 12-1 p.m. Memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. at Highlands.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Kentucky, College of Nursing, Lexington, KY.
