SCHABER, Gilbert C., 92, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013.
He graduated from the University of Louisville and went on to have his own accounting practice for over 45 years. He also retired as a comptroller for Perkins Motors and a Ky Colonel. As a Marine Corps Aviation Veteran of World War II, he proudly reached the rank of Master Tech Sergeant. He was Past President of the Louisville Chapter of the National Association of Accountants and formally very active at Zion United Church of Christ. He found great pleasure working I his yard, growing his roses and dahlias.
Mr. Schaber was preceded in death by his sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Esther Maeser Schaber.
He is survived by his daughter, Betty Gean Lambuth; granddaughters, Tonya Rozelle (Erick) and Natasha Railey (Steve); great grandsons, Michael, Joseph, and Patrick Railey, Joshua and Benjamin Rozelle; brother, Marion G. Shaber; and many nieces and nephews.
His service will be 1pm Thursday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
