BETHARDS, HELEN CATHERINE (WILMES), 89, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, December 13, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 11,1922 on the family farm near Ferdinand, IN. She was primarily a homemaker but had worked at various other jobs in her lifetime, including working in a war factory in Chicago, IL and joining the Army Air Force serving in World War II. She was an original member of Whispering Hills Barnstormers and St. Barth's Alamanders Square Dance Clubs, and a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charles R. Bethards; and her two brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her four children, Karen Summers (Tony), Greg Bethards (Wynella), Janet Leis, Tim Bethards; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, located on the corner of Bardstown Road and Lancashire Ave., with burial in Resthaven. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
The family would like to thank all the staff, nurses, aides and everyone at the Episcopal Church Home for the loving care given to her. She was known for her quick wit and charm. She loved everyone and everyone loved her.
