Obituary for James Ora Brown

BROWN, JAMES ORA "BROWNIE THE BARBER" "PAWPAW," 77, of Louisville, passed away October 7, 2013.

He cut hair at his shop "Brownie's Barber Shop" for 59 years. He was a member of East Audubon Baptist Church, Progress Masonic Lodge #932 for 50 years and Victory Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #447 for 45 years.

He was preceded in death by son, Michael James Brown; and daughter, Laura Lea White.

Brownie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ethel Sadler Brown; daughters, Myra Hohenstein and Denise Mary Sales; grandchildren, Andrew Hohenstein, Sarah Sales, Melody Drexler, Elizabeth Hohenstein, Emily Sales, Dennis Ray White, Joshua Richardson, Jessie Richardson and Rebecca Richardson; five great-grandchildren including, Drew, Hailey, Cooper and Oliver Hohenstein; and sister, Mary Endsley.

His service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be noon-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and after 11 a.m. Thursday until the service.
