Obituary for James C. SHEARER

85, of Louisville passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Baptist Hospital East.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, December 18, 1924, he served in the US Army during World War II in the Philippines. James earned two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart before being honorably discharged in January of 1946. He graduated in 1949 from Tri-State University with an electrical engineering degree. He met and married Lois Arlene Fuller in August, 1947. James moved to Louisville in 1953 and founded the James C. Shearer Co., a manufacturers' representative agency and after a long career, he retired in December 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Louise, Valley and Myrtle; and brother, Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois Fuller Shearer; sons, James C. Shearer II (Susie) and Kevin Shearer (Jill); daughter, Becky Vittitoe (Dan); sister, Alice Wood; grandchildren, James Shearer III (Kristi), Jason Shearer, John Shearer, Joy Furman (Matt), Paige Vittitoe Holroyd (Micah), Tyler Vittitoe, Cameron Shearer and Natalie Shearer; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Randy Smith (Carol).
His visitation will be from noon - 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2000 Douglass Blvd. with his service at 2 p.m. Inurnment is in St. Paul columbarium.
