Obituary for James "Jim" Weis

WEIS, James “Jim” Bertrand, 83, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at home, with his family at his side. He is reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Ellen. Born in Louisville, he was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and the University of Kentucky. Jim was a retired engineering executive of Ford Motor Co. and a WWII Navy Veteran. He held several memberships, those of which include Hurstbourne Country Club, Bonnycastle Club, and Knights of Columbus. He was also a past Chairman of Lyndon Fire Department, an official member of Crocks, and a lifelong member of St. Margaret Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Ella Mae; brothers Eddie, Bobby, Owen and Chester; and his sister Nancy. He was a loving and devoted father to his eight surviving children, Carol Isaac (Bobby), Steve Weis (Mary), Debbie Holloway (Brian), Susan Brock (David), Sandra Lyons (Kevin), Mary Weis, Jenny Smith (Wyndall), and Mark Weis (Laura). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Jim was the beloved brother of surviving siblings John, Tom, Mary Charlotte, Ethel and Peggy. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Magnolia Springs Senior Living and Hosparus for their care and support. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 20 at St. Margaret Mary Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd., with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 Friday, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, Kentucky Chapter, and the Autism Society of Kentuckiana.
