Obituary for Jane Kinman Whitlow

WHITLOW, JANE KINMAN "AUNT JANE," 85, of Louisville, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 17, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.
Jane was born and raised in Louisville. Music and family was the love of her life. She was also loved by many relatives and friends. She was the former president of Parkland Jr. High School and a class pianist at Shawnee High School in 1944. She worked at Louisville Varnish Company and was assistant treasurer for 20 years, became a real-estate broker and formed Kinman Williams Realty. Jane and her brother Bill developed many properties in the west-end of Louisville. Jane and her brother Bill continued the growth of Kinman Plumbing which was established in 1890 by their grandfather.
In 1980 she married Bill Whitlow and formed Kinman Whitlow Realty. She taught Sunday School at the old Virginia Avenue Methodist Church and Shively United Methodist Church and was currently a member of Christ Church United Methodist. For six months she played in the Jack Semple all girl band during World War II and played at the Bluegrass Room in the Brown Hotel. She formed a band with her brother Bill and Glenn Hunter called The Entertainers. She also played saxophone for the New Tones, formerly The Mellotones. She was a member of the Kosair Oriental Ladies and the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elsie Kinman; and Bill Williams.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bill M. Whitlow; stepchildren, Sherry Neeley (Kenneth), Philip Whitlow (Susan), and Donna Wyatt; brother, William A. Kinman (Evelyn), Jr.; nieces and nephews, Deborah Owens (Bob), Kimberly Jane Neuner (Richard), William Allen Kinman, III (Susie), Lauri Knabel (Bob) and Kay Peak (Mike); great-nieces, Courtney Olsofka (John), Jenna Domeck (Craig), Lauren Knabel, Kristin Knabel, Lili Kinman, Jennifer Peak, and Katie Kinman,; great-nephews, Richard Neuner, III (Heather), Robert Owens, Jr. (Maggie), Nicholas Peak, William Allen Kinman IV and Robert Knabel; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Jackson Neuner and Eden Olsofka.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at Christ Church United Methodist, 4614 Brownsboro Road, with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 and 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
