Obituary for Jay Fielden

Fielden, Jay, 92, of Louisville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 18, 2011 after living at the Masonic Home for 3 years. As an Army Veteran of WWII, he served with the Merrill’s Marauders, the 375th Infantry and the 124th (Horse) Calvary to open the Ledo Road and drove the Japanese from Burma. His exploits earned him 3 battle stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Soldiers Medal, China Medal and a position in China as a chaplains’ aide.
Jay retired from American Standard in 1980 after 43 years as an electrician in Local 369. He served on the labor negotiating committee in various positions. After, retiring, he enjoyed doing maintenance at the Grand Lodge and traveling with the Kosair Oriental Band. Jay was honored to be a recipient of the 33rd degree Scottish Rite. He was a member of Kosair Shrine, Kosair Oriental Band, #633 Aurora Lodge and a past member of #850 Boaz Lodge. He was a KY Colonel and a past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, Liberty Chapter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Violet Nelson Fielden; infant daughter, Susanne; brothers, Randall and Charles “Gea” Fielden and son-in-law, Fred Horton.
His survivors include his sons, William J. Fielden (Betty), John “Jerry” Fielden (Patti); daughters, Diane Paschal (Richard) and Marilyn Horton; grandchildren, Karen Seawell, Danny Fielden, Angela Huffman, Holly Niehoff, Andrew Paschal, Jolie Fielden, Eric Horton and Amanda Paschal; great-grandchildren, Kristen McClarty, Elizabeth Wheeler, Danielle McClarty, Miranda Seawell, Dylan Niehoff, Emily Huffman, Luke Huffman, Nicholas Huffman and Jason Niehoff and 1 great-great-grandchild, Maxwell McClarty. His funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial in Resthaven Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00- 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Highlands.
