Obituary for Jennye P. Cox

91, devoted and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt,and friend, departed her earthly life to enter the Lord's heavenly kingdom on August 14, 2010. Jennye was born to Ora Moss Penick and Benjamin W. Penick in Greensburg, KY on July 8, 1919. She was and will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew and loved her because she was a living example of love and service to others. She will be missed dearly but will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Jennye was an active member of Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church, Colonial Dames XVIIth Century (Colonel George Reade Chapter), the Women's Club of Louisville, Daughters of the American Revolution (Fincastle Chapter), and P.E.O. (Chapter B.) She was predeceased by Henry A. Cox, her husband of 58 years. Jesse W. Rayburn, who she married in 1998, and her sister Dorothy P. Nave. She is survived by her children, David B. Cox, Robert H. Cox, Ann Cox Zeman and Jean Cox Hill; her step-son, Jerry Rayburn; her grandchildren, Stephen Cox, Tyler Randolph, Sarah Berger, Kathleen Fogarty, Alyson Wilson, Nicholas Zeman, Alexis Prussack, Adam Hill and Melissa Brown; great-grandchildren Elizabeth Cox, Addison and Morgan Randolph, Jessica, Matthew and Kristin Fogarty, Samantha and Maxwell Wilson and Catherine Hill; nieces and nephews, Walter Nave, Mary Swensen, Margi Berkley, John and James Wentz, Jane Marshall Coffey and Carol Sue Marshall. A memorial service will be held at Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church, 1722 Bardstown Road, Louisville, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010 with visitation immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church.
