Jerry L. Beck, 68, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 with his loving family at his side.
Jerry was a native of Louisville, a Christian by faith, a 1960 graduate of Valley High where he pitched a no-hitter against Eastern High, and a 1965 graduate of Bellarmine College where he played center field and was scouted by the pros until a knee injury. In later years he enjoyed all sports including softball, tennis, and golf, in which he achieved a hole-in-one in a tournament at Bellarmine.
Jerry was a former teacher in the Jefferson County School System, a manger for Metropolitan Insurance and a State Farm agent from 1972 until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Jones and brother, Robert E. Beck.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Norma S. Beck; his loving sons, Jerry L. Beck Jr. and Jeffrey I. Beck; his brother J.C. Beck (Bettie) and his secretary of 26 years, Linda Brown.
Jerry will always be remembered for his love of life, his positive attitude, and his great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who met him.
His funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday and from 10a.m.-noon Saturday at Highlands.
