On August 21, 2018, Jessie 92, peacefully slipped from the grasp of her earthly home to arrive at her heavenly home, a place she had prepared to go her entire life. A lifelong member of the South Louisville Christian Church and faithful servant of the Lord, she lived a life of devolution to her family and was a trusted friend to so many who came into her life over her many years on this earth. Left to treasure the wonderful memories of her life are her children Claudia Davis (Allen), Bruce (Brenda), and David (Cathy), brother-in-law William Handlos, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years Cleo Travis Wilkerson, her parents John W. and Melvina Edlin, her sisters Mary Handlos, Geneva Mitchell and brother-in-law Loyd Mitchell. The family would like to thank the staff of Sunrise of Louisville Assisted Living who provided her with outstanding care and a wonderful home for nearly five years.
Her visitation will be Monday, August 27th from 2PM to 8PM, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Her funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
