DAVIS, JOHN C., 80, joined his heavenly Father on Saturday, October 29, 2011. He was born in 1931 to Hoke and Ruth Davis in Etowah TN and was raised in Louisville and was a 1948 graduate of DuPont Manual. Shortly after enlisting in the Marine Corps, he married Patricia Lind, his sweetheart since elementary school. He and his beloved wife Pat were married 44 years before her death in 1995.
He enjoyed a lifelong career in the finishes and veneer industry prior to his retirement from Flexible Materials.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie D. and John Meiman of Louisville and Donna D. Bynum, Stockbridge GA; siblings, James R. Davis, Mary Jane Motter and Jeannette Smith of Louisville KY; grandchildren, Alan and Julia Krebs Patterson, III of Arlington VA, Lauren D. Meiman of Louisville, and Jonathan Bynum of Conley, GA; great-grandsons, Caden and Shawn Bynum of Georgia; and great-granddaughter, Bailey Claire Meiman, whom he lovingly referred to as "my sweet baby girl".
John was a man with a vast thirst for knowledge and a deep profound love of Jesus, his family, the Marines and his Country. He will be missed and his memory cherished by all that knew him.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. on Tuesday, 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at Highlands.
