Obituary for John Albert Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick, John Albert, 79, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 surrounded by his family after a battle with Parkinson’s Syndrome.
John was a graduate of Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie du Chien, WI and the former Bellarmine College. After serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, John joined Chevrolet Motor Division where he was a district sales manager for almost 30 years. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Consolation Parish, and served on the school board, parish council, and Men’s Club.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Wanda (Portman), and his brother, Robert J. Fitzpatrick. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Sharron and Kirk Hilbrecht, Colleen and John Salazar, and Jennifer and Doug Kopp; grandchildren, Kyle, Claire, and Emily Hilbrecht, Gabby, Kaelin, Braeden, and Ethan Salazar, and Anthony, Abigail, and Nicholas Kopp; sisters, Nanette Eckert (Jim) and Marie Wright; brother, Joseph Fitzpatrick (Ruth) and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Dr. David Houghton of the UofL Movement Disorder Clinic for his compassionate care throughout John’s Illness.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Monday, August 1, 2011 at Holy Trinity Parish, 501 Cherrywood Rd., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-8:00 pm Sunday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
