KAMPSCHAEFER JR., John O. “Jack”, of Louisville, passed away August 5, 2012.
Jack was born December 30, 1931 to Oscar & Elsie Kampschaefer. He graduated from Flaget High School in 1950, after which he attended Bellarmine College. He graduated from Bellarmine in the Pioneer Class of 1954. He later on became Vice President at Bellarmine College for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a certified public accountant and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. He was also a Navy Veteran.
His greatest loves were family, God and Bellarmine University. Until his illness, he was probably their most avid basketball fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold Kampschaefer, Albert “Chip” Kampschaefer; and sisters, Lucille Carney and Verlee “Petie” Siegwald.
He is survived by his son, John Kampschaefer; step-children, Susan Dumeyer, Scott Roby (Colleen) and Meg Roby; grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Dumeyer and Sydney and Taylor Roby; brother, Robert “Bob” Kampschaefer (Pat); and companion, Shirley Deuchars.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Episcopal Home for the loving and devoted care of Jack.
His funeral mass will be 12 noon Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes, 508 Breckenridge Lane. Visitation will be 4-8pm Monday and 2-8 Tuesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. There will be a prayer vigil held at the funeral home at 4pm Tuesday afternoon.
