Obituary for Jon A. Cox

COX,
Jon A., 75, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Baptist Health.
A quiet adventurer, he had a passion for storytelling, travel, history, family and friends.
He built a successful business from the ground up refinishing and restoring furniture and antique clocks.
He believed in a strong Frankfort Avenue business district for decades and was an early contributor to the small business renaissance.
Today, Jon's craftwork is spread far and wide across our city: churches, boardrooms, small shops and countless homes.
He was involved throughout the community. An avid model railroader he volunteered time to set up and run trains for young children (and adults!) and was a long-time member of Lynnhurst United Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Virginia Cox; and brothers, Eric and Bob Cox.
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Saundra Lee; daughter, Jennifer Cox; and sisters, Marion Thoms (Paul) and Carla Hassler (John).
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the KY Humane Society.
