GOEMMER, Lela Howard, 88, of Louisville, passed away Monday, August 15 at Westminster Terrace.
Born in Louisville, she was the former Lela Crooks. She had a long career as a bookkeeper, but will be remembered for her incredible wit, her generous nature, and her ability to adapt to life’s difficult circumstances. Lela was a Catholic by faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Goemmer.
She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Nickey (Joe) and Kathy Briggs (Paul) of NC; granddaughters, Karen McQuade (Michael) and Kim Blair (Joe); great-grandchildren, Kelly, Stephen, Mary Kate, Maddie, and Meredith; a niece, Marie Thomas; and best friend for 59 years, Joe Ann Schulz.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m, Friday, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with burial in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Thursday at Highlands.
