Obituary for Margaret Gardner

GARDNER, Margaret Emeline King, 89, of Louisville, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011.
Born in Spencer County, Kentucky on July 2, 1922 to the late George W. and Audra Jewel King, she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, supreme homemaker, and business woman. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and family. She was a member of Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Arthur F. Gardner; her cherished son, Arthur F. Gardner, Jr.; sister Mae Collins; and brothers, Wilmer, Paul, and George W. King, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Stefater (Tony), Karen Mazzoni (Jay), and Sue Craven of Louisville; daughter-in-law, Susan Gardner of Florence, KY; sisters Kathrine Fortney, Bobbi Nally and Rosemary Stinchcomb; brother Gene King; 6 grandchildren, Tony Stefater III (Margaret) of Cincinnati, OH, Todd Stefater of Atlanta, GA, Meredith and Zachary Craven of Louisville, and Rachael Cain (Jeremy), and Elsa Gardner of Florence, KY; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret’s family wishes to thank Hosparus and the Eastern Star Home staff for their loving care during her illness.
Her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 1 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 3-8 at Highlands.
