Rhodes,
Marguerite Gray, 90, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014.
She was born to the late David Clarence and Inez Bewley Gray. Marguerite was a member of the 1942 graduating class of Shawnee Girls’ High School. She was a faithful member of St. Matthews Baptist Church for over 50 years, and a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital of Louisville for more than 20 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Kendrick Rhodes; beloved son, David Kendrick Rhodes, and her brother, James Albert Gray (Lucy).
Marguerite was a former employee of the Old L&N Railroad. She retired in 1989 from Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Co. after more than 20 years of service.
She was a Daughter of the American Revolution, a Colonial Dame of the XVII Century, a Daughter of the Union & Orphan Brigade, and a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
She is survived by her son, Michael Douglas Rhodes (Susan); three grandchildren, Wilson Kendrick Rhodes, Brian Gray Rhodes (April), and Lauren Michelle Rhodes; great-grandson, Jackson Gray Rhodes; siblings, Alois Lewis (Jim), Mary David Myles (Edmund), Barbara Riddick Rolph, and Richard Michael Gray, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at Highlands.
