Obituary for Marita Michael Bentley

MARITA MICHAEL BENTLEY, 90, died Thursday, January 12, 2012.
Born in Louisville, July 5, 1921, Marita was the daughter of Anna Mae and Leo F. Michael. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, class of 1939, and attended Nazareth College in Louisville.
Before marrying her husband of 64 years, Charles A. Bentley, Sr., Marita worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In addition to her family and friends, she loved to play bridge and enjoyed international travel. She always packed her pillow when she traveled and often said that her pillow had been all over the world.
Memberships included the Naples Woman's Club, Naples, Florida, Queen's Daughters and St. James Church in Louisville. She was a loyal volunteer at Meals on Wheels.
Marita's devotion to her family was paramount and she was very spiritual in her Catholic faith. She had a grand sense of humor, such a pleasant smile and had a way of lighting up a room when she entered. Marita Bentley will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Her survivors include her beloved husband, Charles, and their four children: Nancy B. Napier (Don), James A. Bentley (Elizabeth), Charles A. Bentley, Jr. (Anne) and Mary Ann Bond (Jim); six grandchildren: Donald Napier, Michael Napier, Elizabeth Napier Hicklin, Christopher Bentley, Stephen Bentley and Charles Bentley, III and four great-grandchildren: James Napier, Mia Napier, Donald J. Napier and Taggart Napier and her sister, Ann Kunz.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Leo F. Michael, Jr.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church, 1826 Edenside Avenue with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mass of the Air, 508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40207 or Meals on Wheels, 801 Barret Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky 40204.
