MATTINGLY, MARK WILLIAM, 56, of Louisville, died Saturday, December 14, 2013, after battling cancer. Born in Louisville, he was a 1975 graduate of St. Xavier High School (where he was a star pitcher on the baseball team), attended University of Kentucky, Bellarmine and Sullivan University and was a Business Resolution Specialist for Charter Business. Mark coached at Fern Creek Optimist and St. Gabriel and was instrumental in organizing class reunions at St. Xavier High School. He was preceded in death by parents, George and Mary Mattingly. He is survived by his son, Alex Mattingly; significant other, Cathy Lyons and her sons, Christopher and Michael; sisters, Susan and Marilyn Mattingly; brothers, David and Mike Mattingly (Becky); several nieces, nephews and his beloved dogs, Bruce and Oreo. His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Ln., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Expressions of sympathy may be made to American Cancer Society.
