BROWN,
Martin Joseph “Mick”, Jr. 79, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Norton Pavilion.
He is a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Mick was a retired detective with the Louisville Police Department and served as Director of Security at Churchill Downs for 6 years. He also worked as a U.S. Deputy Marshal and in the circuit courts during his retirement.
He was full of life and will be remembered for his keen sense of humor.
Mick will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan Brown; son, Scott Brown (Kim) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; daughter, Dana Simpson (Dennis) of Louisville; and 4 grandchildren, Megan, Sam, Elizabeth and Will. A special thank you to his wonderful caregiver, Neysha Beckham.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, June 9 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 1520 Hepburn Avenue, with burial to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8pm on Sunday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
