Obituary for Marvin "Dennis" Morris

MORRIS, Marvin D. (Dennis), Age 55 of Louisville, died peacefully at his home on Friday, July 25th, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was a native of Louisville, and worked at Philip Morris USA from 1981 until the production operations closed in Louisville in January, 2001. He then became owner of Rockford Lane Liquors and built it into a very profitable business. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Edward and Shelia Kay Morris. Survivors include his sons, Evan and Nolan Morris, the mother of his children, Colleen Fanning Morris, and sister, Cheryle Hutter. He also has many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Dennis was a wonderful father and mentor to his sons and nephews Ryan and Dylan Steele. He played an active role in helping coach little league baseball, basketball and football and was also an avid golfer, and Trinity High School and University of Kentucky athletics fan. Dennis had a personality as big as his heart and fought a courageous battle against cancer until his final days on earth. Visitation is at Highland Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-8. Funeral services will be held at St. Louis Bertrand Church on Monday at 11:00am. Our family would like to personally thank the staff on 4 East at Norton Brownsboro Hospital and Hospice of Louisville for the excellent care they provided. We also want to thank our family, friends and co-workers for your kindness and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Louisville.
