Obituary for Mary Ann Houpt

Mary Ann Bradshaw Houpt, 85, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012. She was born in Akron, Ohio on July 5, 1926. She graduated from St. Charles High School in St. Mary’s, KY, and from St. Helen’s Business College in Louisville, KY. She worked at Louisville Cement Co., Bon Air Pharmacy, Harding Pharmacy and Taylor Drugs. By faith, a member of St. Pius X Church, she raised two sons and a daughter—Lawrence Houpt (Debbie), Patsy Smith (Greg), and Steve Houpt (Debbie).
In addition to her parents, James Howard Bradshaw and Mary Etta Bradshaw; and her husband, Richard William Houpt, she was preceded in death by three brothers. Mary Ann is survived by one brother, Tom Bradshaw, and one sister, Martha Rayner. She is also survived by her three children; seven grandchildren, Paul Houpt (Maria), Jennifer Kanaly (Tom), Nick Houpt, Adam Smith (Monica), Brandon Houpt, Amanda Houpt, and Ben Smith (Jennifer); and eight great grandchildren, Tre, Juliauna, Sam, Max, Logan, Addison, Morgan and Lucas.
Mary Ann loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved to bowl and go line-dancing. Most of all, she loved her family and friends. Mary Ann was beloved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Visitation for Mary Ann Bradshaw Houpt will be on Sunday from 2-8 and Monday 4-8 at Highlands Funeral Home (3331 Taylorsville Rd.). A funeral mass will be held at St. Pius X Church (3521 Goldsmith Lane) on Tuesday, April 24, at 10:00 a.m. with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. Bill Burks will preside.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Pius X Church and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
