Passafiume, Mary Jo (Hess), 99, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Mary Jo was born in Louisville, on September 8, 1911, to Joseph A. and Mary T. Streicher Hess. She was the devoted wife of the late John J. Passafiume Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 69 years. She was a homemaker, a graduate of Ursuline Academy’s class of 1929, and a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Also preceding her in death are grandsons, Joseph Passafiume Jr., and John Passafiume III. Mary Jo is survived by her children, Joseph S. Passafiume (JoAnn), John J. Passafiume Jr. (Eleise), Phyllis M. Passafiume, and Saundra P. Grunkemeyer (Robert); grandchildren Mark Passafiume (Tammy), Christina Grismer (Brian), Michael Passafiume (Tracy), Richard Passafiume (Barbara), Laura Probus (Gus), Alicia Weickel (Phillip), David Passafiume (Jill), Maria Brugh (Michael), Angela Robertshaw (Ryan), and Peter Grunkemeyer; and 18 great-grandchildren. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 23, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 531 E. Liberty St., with burial immediately following in Calvary cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m., at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Nativity Academy at St. Boniface, 531 E.
